Organization and Personnel Charts, 1941-2008.

This collection has been separated into three series: Laboratory Charts, Personnel Charts, and Organization Charts. Laboratory Charts show the overall organization of the Lab. Those labeled as personnel charts also include all employees in high level organizations such as the Director's Office. Personnel charts name all personnel in an organization. Organization charts name only the managers of an organization, down to the Section Manager or Group Supervisor. In about 1960 there was a major reorganization at JPL. One and two digit organization numbers were replaced by a system using two or three digits (3X, 31, 311, etc.). Pre-1960 charts are placed at the beginning of each series. Division personnel charts usually include the names of all division and section employees. When searching for the name of someone who worked in Section 645, see Division 64 or 640, if there is not a chart for Section 645. Some charts name all personnel at the division level, but only managers at the section level. When searching for a name, please check both personnel charts and organization charts. JPL telephone directories provide organization numbers for employees and contractors. Contact the JPL Libarary for access to the hard copy telephone directory collection (JPL internal access only). Also included in this collection are personnel lists. Some personnel lists from 1947-1949 are on microfilm (roll 614-5A) and will be added to this collection at a later date. Because of poor print quality, they will have to be reformatted before scanning. Ask an archivist about access to microfilm.
